Sparfell & Karen Helicopters opens new VIP helicopter base at Geneva Airport

20 May 2026 - Adrien Fostoff - Group Marketing Manager

Sparfell & Karen Helicopters, a Sparfell Group company created in direct partnership with the renowned company Karen Helicopter Services, is proud to announce the opening of its new helicopter base and hangar facility at Geneva Airport.

Located on the north apron, the new 600 m² facility is fully dedicated to helicopter operations and marks a major milestone in the company’s development. Positioned within one of Europe’s leading aviation hubs, the base offers direct ramp access, seamless operations, premium support, and enhanced responsiveness for both owners and charter clients.

Just over one year after its creation, Sparfell & Karen Helicopters is continuing its rapid development to meet growing demand in the VIP helicopter sector.

The company has also recently welcomed its Bell 505 to Geneva, where it is now based at its new home base. Available for charter, the aircraft further strengthens Sparfell & Karen Helicopters’ local operations and offers clients a flexible solution for short-range VIP missions from Geneva and the surrounding region.

The new hangar is sized to accommodate helicopters up to an AW139 and provides a secure, dedicated environment for aircraft parking and basing. In a market such as Geneva, where hangar availability for helicopters remains extremely limited, this represents a major advantage for owners seeking to base their aircraft directly at the airport.

With this new infrastructure, Sparfell & Karen Helicopters becomes one of the very few helicopter operators with hangar capacity in Geneva, and the only one dedicated to VIP helicopter operations.

The company is already progressively basing part of its fleet in Geneva, which will allow it to improve operational flexibility, increase aircraft availability, and respond more rapidly to client requests. This local positioning will also support more competitive pricing and more efficient charter operations for clients flying to and from Geneva and the surrounding region.

In parallel, the partnership with Karen Helicopter Services also brings a major technical advantage to the market through the availability of a new line station in Geneva supporting Agusta helicopters. This capability is a key component of the new base and represents a significant enhancement for operators and owners seeking local maintenance support. The line station provides comprehensive support across the full Leonardo helicopter range, strengthening Geneva’s appeal as a strategic base for helicopter owners and operators.

Beyond operational and technical capabilities, the opening of the Geneva base also supports the company’s long-term growth strategy by increasing its visibility and attractiveness in the local employment market. With aircraft now progressively based in Geneva, Sparfell & Karen Helicopters is also well positioned to attract pilots from the Geneva area who are looking to fly in the VIP helicopter segment.
